Halong Bay, Vietnam

[one_half]

Halong bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a popular travel destination, in Quảng Ninh Province, Vietnam. Administratively, the bay belongs to Hạ Long City, Cẩm Phả town, and part of Vân Đồn District. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes. Hạ Long Bay is a center of a larger zone which includes Bái Tử Long bay to the northeast, and Cát Bà islands to the southwest. These larger zones share similar geological, geographical, geomorphological, climate, and cultural characters.

These images were shot on December 30th and 31st while I was out there by myself vacationing. Most of the images were taken right at dusk, or right at dawn. To capture the low light, I climbed to the top deck of the boat we were on, and set my camera to BULB to control the shutter speed. Most of the low light photos shown here were with a 2-3 second release of the shutter.
