I’d wager that of all the requests to ‘record this’ and ‘record that,’ the most requested music is actually Christmas music.

In 2008 I was working for MSNBC in Bellevue, WA, and I really wanted to produce a gift to give friends, family and coworkers. Since CDs were still a thing, I decided to make a quick Christmas record based on McCoy Tyner’s song Search For Peace.

I overdubbed the piano and bass, added Adam Kessler on drums, and then invited good friends Tony Grasso and Brian Kent to be on the record. I really loved-and has always loved-how it turned out. I still get a lot of comments on the harmonic minor nature of Little Drummer Boy.
