John Johnson - Songs For My Father
Client: 5ohm/12VoltArts Recordings
Role: Composer/Producer
Year: 2004
My father had to be my greatest influence in music. He was a jazz trumpet player, and when he passed in 1983 when I was 13, he left behind a drive to continue his path of music that pushes me to this day.
This was my first jazz record, and I hired some of the best musicians in Seattle at the time in Tony Grasso, Brian Kent and Brian Kirk. We recorded it at The Sound Ranch in the spring of 2004, and was released that summer. On it are 10 songs inspired by my father or father figures from when I was young.
Featuring: Tony Grasso(t), Brian Kent(s), Brian Kirk(d)
Recorded and mixed at Sound Ranch Studios – East, Seattle, WA.
