NO____SIGNAL RE:Score // RE: Sound Demonstration

Client: Sound Ranch Studios

Role: Composer / Sound Designer

Year: 2022

This terrific video was completely developed in 3D, mostly using Cinema 4D with the Octane renderer. I’ve been learning a lot about C4D and Octane, and came across this work as an example of what can be done with the software. It’s amazing and unbelievable. It already had awesome audio and a score, but because I think it’s so rad I wanted to both score it and reshape the audio, and build them together so that the sound intertwines with the music. When hearing the music on its own, it almost sounds like something is missing — especially after watching the video. That’s because the sound is so intricately interwoven with the music that it becomes difficult to separate them.

I think the best part of sequences of this are the ambient and background tones that make the scene feel alive and real. I found radio chatter and static worked well for the name sequences; it looks and sounds as if they are both being tuned in at the same time.

For music, I used a lot of choir sounds, as well as serum’s Blade plug-in from Xfer to create that modern space soundtrack sound. The strings are London Contemporary Orchestra by Spitfire and the horns are from Spitfire’s BBCSO collection. I love to just use horns and strings together.
